Tyrese Maxey Thrills NBA Fans as Joel Embiid, 76ers Force Game 6 vs. Brunson, Knicks
Tyrese Maxey scored 46 points—including a game-tying 34-foot three-pointer with nine seconds left in regulation—to keep the Philadelphia 76ers' season alive en route to a 112-106 overtime win over the New York Knicks in Game 5 of their first-round series.
Joel Embiid posted a 19-point, 16-rebound, 10-assist triple-double (albeit with nine turnovers) for the 76ers, who now trail the Knicks 3-2 in the best-of-seven matchup.
New York guard Jalen Brunson poured in 40 to lead the Knicks, who blew a 96-90 lead with 29 seconds left.

That's because of Maxey, who hit a four-point play four seconds later.

Maxey then took care of business again, hitting a three from the midcourt logo for the tie.
Brunson had a chance for the win in response, but Nicolas Batum blocked his shot.
Brunson began overtime on a personal 5-0 run, but Maxey responded with a three to cut the lead back to two.
The two teams then traded blows, but Philadelphia got the upper hand for good when Kelly Oubre Jr. hit a layup that hung on the rim before falling through.
New York went scoreless on its final four possessions. Meanwhile, Tobias Harris and Maxey each hit two free throws to put this game away.
Maxey finished this game by scoring 22 points in the fourth quarter and overtime. It was simply a phenomenal effort for a player whose team was squarely on the ropes after Brunson dropped 47 points in a Game 4 win on Sunday.
And with the 76ers' season looking done, Maxey stepped up and delivered, impressing a legion of fans and analysts:
Game 6 will go down on Thursday in Philadelphia. A 76ers win returns the series back to New York for Game 7 on Saturday. A Knicks victory ends the series in New York's favor.
