According to the Associated Press, a 16-year-old was arrested and charged with attempted homicide, firing a weapon in a public place, using a firearm during a felony and illegal possession of a firearm by a minor after shooting 10 people during a private event at Cabana Live in Sanford, Florida.
None of the victims sustained life-threatening injuries.
The incident occurred after a fistfight at the venue, the police said. The shooter reportedly wasn't involved in the physical altercation but pulled out a handgun and began firing into the crowd before a security guard tackled him to the ground and disarmed him. A second security guard then handcuffed him.
"The incident began as a verbal altercation that escalated," Seminole County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Kim Cannaday said in a statement.
It was the 12th mass shooting in Florida and 126th in the United States this year.
Dell, 24, was having an excellent rookie season before a broken fibula cut it short in early December, catching 47 passes for 709 yards and seven scores.
He was part of Houston's superb 2023 draft class, joining a pair of Rookie of the Year award-winners on both sides of the ball in C.J. Stroud and Will Anderson Jr. and is expected to be a featured contributor for an offense that now includes Stefon Diggs, Nico Collins, Joe Mixon and Dalton Schultz.
