NFL Scout: Jets' Jordan Travis Has 'Real Chance' to Start in Post-Aaron Rodgers Era
The New York Jets appear to be developing a succession plan behind Aaron Rodgers.
New York selected Florida State quarterback Jordan Travis in the fifth-round of the 2024 NFL Draft. NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported that scouts around the league are high on Travis' potential.
"I think his intelligence and legs make him a potential starter there post (Aaron) Rodgers," the AFC North scout told Schultz. "He's got a real chance for sure."

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮
Travis is the ninth quarterback selected by the Jets since 2011, but will be entering a situation that is significantly different from the preceding eight. That is because he is entering an offense headlined by Rodgers, the four-time league MVP.
Rodgers doesn't have much more experience in a Jets uniform than Travis, as his 2023 season lasted just four plays before he went down with a torn Achilles. He will reclaim the starting role in 2024 and the franchise will hope he can bring it back to the postseason for the first time since 2010.
However, Rodgers is 40-years-old and nearing the end of his career. He is under contract through the 2025 season, but his future beyond that is less guaranteed. That's where Travis could come in and take over after learning under the legend.
Travis threw for 2,756 yards with 20 touchdowns and two interceptions in 2023 while also adding 176 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground. He notably led the Seminoles to an 11-0 record before he broke his leg and missed the end of the season.
He now will look to develop off the bench and be in line to be the first quarterback post-Rodgers to lead the Jets.
