NFL Draft 2024: Reviewing Latest 1st-Round Expert Mocks with 1 Week Remaining
Only one week remains before the 2024 NFL draft.
The way draft experts see it, that means just one week is left before the Chicago Bears use the first overall pick on USC quarterback Caleb Williams.
As far as consensus opinions, though, that's one of the few you'll find when scanning across multiple expert mocks. To further highlight that point, we'll take a closer look at three recent expert mocks to search for trends and disagreements.
Four QBs in the Top Five?
1 of 3
While experts may not agree on the order, they all see the league's marquee position getting hit hard atop this draft.
CBS Sports' Will Brinson, NFL.com's Peter Schrager and ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. and Field Yates all have four quarterbacks going among their first five picks. But they split not only on when the non-Caleb Williams signal-callers will go, there's also disagreement on which takes will take them.
They all have the Washington Commanders and New England Patriots taking quarterbacks with the second and third picks, respectively. While Schrager and the ESPN analysts both have LSU's Jaden Daniels in the No. 2 spot and North Carolina's Drake Maye at No. 3, Brinson has Maye second and Michigan's J.J. McCarthy going third.
All three experts see a team trading up for the fourth quarterback, but again, the process and prospects are a little different. Brinson has the Minnesota Vikings moving up to No. 5 in a trade with the Los Angeles Chargers to get Daniels. ESPN also has Minnesota climbing to No. 5, but to get McCarthy instead. Schrager, meanwhile, sees the New York Giants getting the No. 4 pick from the Arizona Cardinals and using it on McCarthy.
Three WRs in the Top 10?

While all of the experts seem sold on Ohio State's Marvin Harrison Jr. as the top receiver in this draft—the B/R NFL Scouting Department has him as the top prospect in the draft period—he's not the only pass-catcher getting early attention in mock drafts.
As for Harrison, Brinson and the ESPN crew both have him landing with Arizona at No. 4. As Yates explained, there was temptation to move down for more picks, but Harrison was ultimately the choice as he is "the most pro-ready prospect in the class" and someone who "fills Arizona's biggest need."
Schrager, meanwhile, had Harrison joining the Chargers at No. 5.
All of the experts included two other receivers among their top 10 picks: LSU's Malik Nabers and Washington's Rome Odunze. Brinson and the ESPN crew are in lockstep on this pair, as both have the Giants taking Nabers at No. 6 and the Bears selecting Odunze at No. 9. As for Schrager, he has Odunze going sixth to the Cardinals after a trade, and he sees the Colts moving up to No. 9 for Nabers.
Rounding out the Top 10

If your favorite team holds a top-10 pick and hasn't been mentioned yet, the experts seemingly have a pretty good idea of which direction they'll go.
For all of the disagreements early, these experts see the seventh and eighth picks playing out exactly the same. They all have the Tennessee Titans snatching up Notre Dame offensive tackle Joe Alt at No. 7, and then the Atlanta Falcons getting Alabama edge-rusher Dallas Turner at No. 8.
Brinson and the ESPN crew have a similar take on the New York Jets' pick at No. 10, as they both have them taking an offensive tackle. But while Brinson put Alabama's JC Latham in that spot, ESPN went with Washington's Troy Fautanu. Schrager went a different direction and mocked Georgia tight end Brock Bowers to the Jets there.
If Jets fans aren't enamored with taking a tight end over a tackle there, just know that B/R's Scouting Department likes the value. Bowers sits in the second spot on their big board, ahead of all the quarterbacks and behind only Harrison. For reference, Latham is their 13th-ranked prospect and Fautanu lands at No. 16.
