Falcons Sign Kevin King to Contract; Ex-Packers CB Hasn't Played NFL Game Since 2021
The Atlanta Falcons announced that the team signed former Green Bay Packers cornerback Kevin King on Monday.
King hasn't appeared in the NFL since the 2021 season. The former second-round pick spent all five years of his career in Green Bay, starting in 42 games and making 51 total regular-season appearances.
The 28-year-old has recorded seven interceptions, 30 passes defensed, and two forced fumbles since he was drafted in 2017.

King signed a one-year deal with the Falcons.
Following the expiration of his final contract with the Packers, the former Washington standout sat out the 2022 NFL season for personal reasons. King missed the following 2023 season due to a torn Achilles that he suffered during offseason workouts as he prepared for training camp (h/t Terrin Waack of atlantafalcons.com).
The veteran has connections with several members of Atlanta's coaching staff, namely defensive coordinator Jimmy Lake. Lake served as the defensive backs coach and co-defensive coordinator at Washington during King's final three years in college from 2014 through 2016.
Falcons secondary coach Justin Hood and assistant head coach Jerry Gray also spent time on Green Bay's coaching staff during King's final year as a member of the organization in 2021.
Although he only appeared in 10 games during the 2021 season due to a string of injuries that included a concussion as well as shoulder issues, King put together a commendable year despite the lack of statistical production. Pro Football Focus gave him a respectable 70.6 grade for his efforts, allowing 19 receptions on 26 targets.
As the Falcons attempt to return to the playoffs following the major addition of quarterback Kirk Cousins in free agency, they'll be hoping that King can return from a two-year hiatus and provide some depth in the secondary.
