NBA Rumors: Doc Rivers Held Film Session to Allow Bucks Players to Speak Their Minds
Doc Rivers' tenure in Milwaukee has been nothing short of a disaster, and he's looking for ways to fix it ahead of the playoffs.
The Bucks coach held a team film session over the weekend with rotation players and asked them to speak their minds on the team's issues, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium.
Milwaukee is a dispiriting 15-16 under Rivers, who took over for Adrian Griffin in January. Griffin was 30-13 over his 43-game stint with the Bucks, making Rivers' struggles to consistently win with the same roster even more concerning.
Milwaukee has lost six of its last seven games overall and only holds a one-game lead over the Orlando Magic and New York Knicks for the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference. Still, players are at least publicly optimistic about a turnaround.
"I mean, as crazy as it might sound, I feel good," guard Damian Lillard said. "Obviously, I hate how the last two weeks or so, however long it's been, has gone. It's uncomfortable and it's frustrating to lose games that we should win and then have a game like tonight where we start off playing well and then have a bad third quarter and get those guys believing and then they take over the game. But when I look around the locker room, I just feel good about it."
The Bucks entered this season with championship aspirations after acquiring Lillard to pair with Giannis Antetokounmpo. The Lillard-Antetokounmpo combo has not been as seamless as hoped, with Lillard in particular taking a step back as he navigates being a 1B option for the first time in years. After averaging a career-high 32.2 points per game last season, he's down to 24.5 points per game this season.
The Bucks have also had to contend with another disappointing, injury-plagued season from Khris Middleton, who inked a three-year, $93 million deal in the offseason.
