Schrager: DJ Burns' NFL Prospects Discussed by Execs amid NC State's Final Four Run
Not only has DJ Burns led NC State to its first Final Four appearance 1983, he's also caught the eye of NFL scouts.
Peter Schrager of Fox Sports reported multiple NFL executives view Burns as a potential NFL offensive tackle. While it's unclear if Burns has any interest in playing football, he would reportedly get a "big turnout" if he participated in a pro day.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮
Burns is listed at 6'9" and 275 pounds, which would make him one of the tallest players in NFL history. He would also have to bulk up his frame to withstand the rigors of the NFL given most linemen top the 300-pound mark.
The 23-year-old has been focused on basketball throughout his young sports career. He was already 6'8" and on the radar of college scouts by the time he was a freshman in high school, eventually signing with Tennessee as a 4-star recruit in 2018. After transferring from Tennessee to Winthrop and then to NC State in 2022, Burns emerged as a star and has been the face of the Wolfpack's surprising run to the Final Four.
Burns had 29 points, four rebounds and three assists in Sunday's win over Duke and has wowed fans and opposing bigs with his fleet footwork. It's Burns' nimbleness on his feet that has caught the eye of NFL scouts, who understandably see that project as an ability to explode off the snap.
While his court vision as a passer is elite for a big man, Burns has not to this point garnered much NBA attention. He could take the G League or European route to continue his basketball career, but if he has any inkling football could be more lucrative, a pro day workout couldn't hurt.
