Ezekiel Elliott Rumors: Cowboys 'Still Like How' RB Runs the Ball amid Contract Buzz
A potential reunion between veteran running back Ezekiel Elliott and the Dallas Cowboys remains on the table, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
"There's nothing imminent but they know where each other stands and there is some mutual interest here," Fowler reported Sunday on SportsCenter. "So, after eight years in the league, seven with Dallas, one with New England, the Cowboys still like how Elliott's running the ball."

Referencing Elliott's workload, Fowler added "this isn't going to be a situation where he's getting 250 carries like he used to."
The Cowboys lost leading rusher Tony Pollard to free agency and haven't done anything to augment their backfield after his departure. For the moment, Rico Dowdle and Deuce Vaughn are tentatively penciled in as the top two ball-carriers.
While adding Elliott would improve Dallas' depth, the absence of a true No. 1 option would remain glaring.
Dowdle had 361 yards and two touchdowns while backing up Pollard in 2023. Vaughn had a total of just 30 touches as a rookie. And Elliott's best days are behind him. His 3.5 yards per carry and 37.8 yards per game with the New England Patriots were career lows.
Signing Elliott makes sense given the Cowboys' positional need and his past experience with the franchise. The fanbase might be left wanting more, though, if he'd be the only running back to come in following Pollard's exit.
