Conor McGregor Says Michael Chandler UFC Fight This Summer Is 'All Systems Go'
UFC fans are anxiously awaiting the return of Conor McGregor, and he revealed Tuesday that it could happen soon.
While promoting his upcoming movie Road House, which is set to premiere on March 21 on Amazon Prime, McGregor told ESPN's Marc Raimondi that he will be coming back this summer for a fight against Michael Chandler.
"We got confirmation a few days ago that it's all systems go," McGregor said. "And 'The Mac,' 'The Notorious' will be returning to the UFC Octagon this summer."

The UFC has yet to officially announce McGregor's return and he didn't clarify what date or event he will be facing Chandler at this summer. The two of them coached opposite one another on the most recent season of The Ultimate Fighter reality competition series. Raimondi noted that McGregor "previously said the bout would be June 29 at UFC 303."
McGregor trolled Chandler earlier this year by saying the fight would take place at 185 pounds. Neither of them has competed professionally at over 170 pounds. The Irishman added Tuesday that he was having fun with Chandler and he's unsure of what weight class the fight will take place at, but he's excited to be working his way toward his comeback.
"I had [my training] camp in Dubai [months ago], I had a camp in Cannes," McGregor said. "I was preparing, and then I was kind of getting nothing back. And then other things came up and I kind of dipped out. But now, it's on. So, there's no messing now. I cannot dip out now."
The former double champion has not fought since he broke his left leg in his loss to Dustin Poirier in July 2021. He was lauded for his activity during his rise to superstardom, but his fight against Chandler will be just his fifth fight in the past eight years.
McGregor added that after facing Chandler he intends to fight former rival Nate Diaz at the UFC's Mexican Independence Day card in September at the Sphere in Las Vegas, which he called "an absolute perfection of a fight." He currently has two fights remaining on his contract with the UFC, so he said he's unsure of what the future holds.
"Do we sign a new deal?" McGregor said of the UFC. "Do I go? Am I a free agent? I love the UFC dearly. My heart is in the UFC -- my catalog, my life. I love everyone in the company and all the fighters and all the events and all the shows and cards. I wish to continue this. How that looks, I have no clue."
