NFL Rumors: Mike Vrabel Hired as Browns Consultant After 6 Seasons as Titans HC
Former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel is joining the Cleveland Browns' staff as a coaching and personnel consultant, per ESPN's Adam Schefter and Field Yates.
Vrabel served as the Titans' head coach from 2018 to 2023. He was fired in January after a 6-11 season last year.
Vrabel joins the Browns after they went 11-6 despite starting five separate quarterbacks and lost in the Wild Card Round to the Houston Texans.

In his six seasons with Tennessee, Vrabel led the Titans to three playoff appearances and a pair of divisional titles. In 2019, Vrabel took the Titans to their first AFC Championship Game since 2002, but they lost to the eventual champion Kansas City Chiefs.
The Titans won the AFC South in both 2020 and 2021 and earned the AFC's top seed in 2021. Tennessee lost to the Baltimore Ravens in the Wild Card Round in 2020 and the Cincinnati Bengals in the divisional round in 2021.
While Vrabel posted some solid years with the organization, he and the Titans struggled over the last two seasons, ultimately leading to his dismissal. Tennessee hired former Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan to replace Vrabel.
Although eight teams around the NFL had head coaching vacancies this offseason, none of them hired Vrabel to fill that role. He did interview with the Atlanta Falcons and Los Angeles Chargers.
While Vrabel might have wanted to land another head coaching gig, he will at least get the chance to continue coaching in the NFL in some capacity. He also returns to his home state in his new role.
Vrabel, an Akron native, was a standout defensive end at Ohio State from 1993 to 1996 and was a linebackers and defensive line coach for the Buckeyes after his NFL playing career ended.
