Pac-12 Football Schedule 2012: Can Any Team Go Undefeated in the Conference?
Even though the Pac-12 produced two BCS bowl teams this year, no team in the conference managed to finish unscathed in Pac-12 play this season.
But with Oregon and USC both set to enter next season as top-five ranked teams, don't be surprised to see that change in 2012.
Now that the schedules have been released for all to see, here's a look at the four teams that have the best chance of going undefeated in Pac-12 play in 2012.
USC Trojans
1 of 4USC’s 2012 Conference Schedule
Sept. 15: At Stanford
Sept. 22: California
Oct. 4: Utah
Oct. 13: At Washington
Oct. 20: Colorado
Oct. 27: At Arizona
Nov. 3: Oregon
Nov. 10: Arizona State
Nov. 17: At UCLA
With star quarterback Matt Barkley set to return for his senior year, USC is now once again back on top of the college football mountain.
Now, we'll just have to see if the Trojans can live up to the hype.
The schedule is by no means easy, but Lane Kiffin's squad definitely has the talent to run through the Pac-12 and make it to Miami next season.
Oregon Ducks
2 of 4Oregon’s 2012 Conference Schedule
Sept. 22: Arizona
Sept. 29: At Washington State
Oct. 6: Washington
Oct. 18: At Arizona State
Oct. 27: Colorado
Nov. 3: At USC
Nov. 10: At California
Nov. 17: Stanford
Nov. 24: At Oregon State
Oregon may be losing star running back LaMichael James, but the Ducks will still be the team to beat in the North division once again next year, and they'll likely enter the season as a top-five ranked team.
The road game at USC is the only Pac-12 matchup where Oregon is unlikely to be favored next year.
Stanford Cardinal
3 of 4Stanford’s 2012 Conference Schedule
Sept. 15: USC
Sept. 27: At Washington
Oct. 6: Arizona
Oct. 20: At California
Oct. 27: Washington State
Nov. 3: At Colorado
Nov. 10: Oregon State
Nov. 17: At Oregon
Nov. 24: At UCLA
With star QB Andrew Luck and All-American offensive linemen David DeCastro and Jonathan Martin set to depart Palo Alto, it's going to be awfully tough for Stanford to replicate the success the Cardinal had over the last two seasons. But don't count out coach David Shaw, running back Stepfan Taylor and the stout-looking Stanford defenses, which will be led by one of the best linebacker combos in the country with Chase Thomas and Shayne Skov.
The Cardinal may not have what it takes to run the table in the Pac-12, but they can definitely give Oregon a scare in the North division.
Utah Utes
4 of 4Utah’s 2012 Conference Schedule
Sept. 22: At Arizona State
Oct. 4: USC
Oct. 13: At UCLA
Oct. 20: At Oregon State
Oct. 27: California
Nov. 3: Washington State
Nov. 10: At Washington
Nov. 17: Arizona
Nov. 23: At Colorado
A dangerous team to watch out for in the Pac-12 next season is Utah.
With a healthy Jordann Wynn back in the fold at quarterback, the Utes will have one of the most explosive offenses in the country, led by one of the college football's top backs John White IV.
With no Oregon on the schedule, the Utes could have a chance at running the table in the conference if they can shock USC early in the year.
