Cavaliers' Donovan Mitchell Out for Next 3 Games After PRP Injection for Knee Injury
Cleveland Cavaliers star guard Donovan Mitchell missed the last two games due to a knee injury, and his absence will continue.
The team announced on Monday that Mitchell received a PRP injection to treat a bone bruise in his left knee and he will miss the next three games before being re-evaluated over the weekend.
The last time Mitchell was on the floor, he scored 19 points in 44 minutes in Cleveland's double-overtime loss to the Chicago Bulls on Feb. 28. It's unclear when exactly he suffered the injury, but the team listed him as out for the next two games with knee soreness.

Without Mitchell in the lineup, the Cavs defeated the Detroit Pistons on Friday and fell to the New York Knicks on Sunday. At 39-21, Cleveland ranks third in the Eastern Conference, just a half-game behind the Milwaukee Bucks for the No. 2 seed and 3.5 games ahead of the fourth-place Knicks.
Mitchell has been a consistent force for a Cavs team that has dealt with injuries to key players throughout this season. In his 47 appearances, the 27-year-old leads the team with 28.0 points, 6.2 assists and 1.8 steals per game and was selected to his fifth straight All-Star Game.
Without Mitchell in the lineup, the Cavs will rely on point guard Darius Garland and big men Evan Mobley and Jarret Allen to pick up the slack. Shooting guard Max Strus will likely take his place in the starting five going forward.
If all goes well with Mitchell's recovery, he could be back on the floor on Sunday when the Cavs face the Brooklyn Nets.
