Warriors' Draymond Green Has 'Perfectly' Walked Line Since Suspension, Kerr Says
Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr is proud of the way Draymond Green has handled himself following his return from a 12-game suspension, telling reporters that the forward has been "perfectly" walking the line.
"We still wanted him to yell at the refs; we just didn't want him to get kicked out," Kerr said, per James Herbert of CBS Sports.
The NBA gave Green an indefinite suspension for striking Phoenix Suns center Jusuf Nurkić on Dec. 12, which ended up lasting 12 games. He then missed four more games after his reinstatement to work on his conditioning.
The 33-year-old also served a separate five-game suspension earlier in the year after putting Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert in a headlock during an altercation between the two teams.
Green has been able to stay on the floor since his return, which has helped the Warriors get their season back on track. Golden State is 12-6 since he rejoined the team on Jan. 15, moving back into the Western Conference play-in picture with an overall record of 30-27.
When speaking to Anthony Slater of The Athletic shortly after his return, Green recognized his importance to the Warriors on both sides of the ball.
"I know I have to be in the game," he said. "For us to have the best chance at winning, I have to be there."
On the season as a whole, Green is averaging 9.3 points, 6.8 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game. He's shooting 50.2 percent from the field while displaying surprising long-range accuracy, connecting on 44.6 percent of his three-point attempts.
