Danilo Gallinari, Bucks Agree to Contract amid Clippers, Suns Rumors
Free agent Danilo Gallinari has agreed to sign with the Milwaukee Bucks for the rest of the season, The Athletic and Stadium's Shams Charania first reported Thursday.
Gallinari's agent, Michael Tellem of Excel Basketball, later confirmed the agreement to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
The power forward was traded to the Detroit Pistons from the Washington Wizards in January and was waived by the Pistons last week following the NBA trade deadline.
Since 2022, Gallinari has been with four different teams. He spent the 2021-22 season with the Atlanta Hawks and was with the Celtics last season—though never suited up due to an injury. He was traded to the Wizards this offseason.
This season, he is averaging 7.9 points per game.
The 35-year-old has proved he can be a prolific scorer throughout his career. He averaged a career-high 19.8 points per game as well as a career-high 6.1 rebounds per game during the 2018-19 season while playing for the Los Angeles Clippers.
While Gallinari isn't the same scoring threat he was a few years ago, he could be a valuable scoring option off the bench as the Bucks try to make a deep playoff run.
The Clippers and Phoenix Suns also reportedly had interest in signing the veteran.
The Bucks sit in third place in the Eastern Conference at 35-20 on the year. Under new head coach Doc Rivers, Milwaukee is looking to make its return to the NBA Finals, and adding Gallinari could help the team reach that goal.
