Note to Impact Wrestling: Did Someone Forget About James Storm?

David LevinJan 4, 2012

Let me be the first one to say how excited I am about the upcoming Genesis PPV this coming weekend.

The idea of bold matches that will spark new rivalries and help growth in TNA is something the company needs so it can compete in the ranks of the wrestling world. But while I am excited about the opportunity to see new feuds and new spots, I am concerned with one thing that continues to baffle me—the feud that was supposed to be.

I am talking about Bobby Roode, the current TNA World Champion, and his battle with James Storm, his former friend, tag team partner and the man who was supposed to help usher in a new and improved TNA and Impact Wrestling.

When we started October of last year (I know it is such a long time ago), Storm and Roode were on top of the world of TNA. Friends, comrades and the future of what we all thought could be something special.

It still can be.

Storm suffered a concussion in the match one week after he beat Kurt Angle at the hands of Roode when a beer bottle changed the complexity of the company. While Angle had to drop the title to Storm because of injury and Storm dropped the title to Roode, a concussion knocked the "Cowboy" out of action for six weeks.

Enter 2012. Things have changed. Roode is still the champion. Jeff Hardy is the top contender and Storm is brewing with Angle (like how I used the play on words). That is good in theory and show (three really good matches), but it is missing the mark.

WAKE UP, TNA!

In order for this company to move forward, make this feud a priority! Forget what Hulk Hogan has to say. Forget what Eric Bischoff wants to do involving his son or Ric Flair. Make Angle and Hardy key components in the title war. But for God's sake, give us ROODE VS. STORM.

Part of your plan for the end of the year and the move toward 2012 was to break up Beer Money so they could battle. The fans want it. The IWC want it and, of course, I WANT IT.

Storm is too good on the mic, is a good in-ring performer and has become a solid singles competitor. Why would TNA pass up on a good thing?

Storm, although a champion on one week, has earned the right to be the top dog in this company, and running with Roode would be a good thing. All I am saying is while the angle with Angle is good, Roode is better.
