Klay Thompson on Believing in Curry, Draymond, Warriors: 'Check Our Playoff Record'
Klay Thompson is putting his faith in the Golden State Warriors' past success as an indication they can make a run this season.
Speaking to reporters after Wednesday's win over the Philadelphia 76ers, Thompson said to "check our playoff record" with himself, Stephen Curry and Draymond Green as a reason to believe the Warriors are capable of doing big things.
The Warriors have won four NBA titles in six Finals appearances with their big three since the 2014-15 season. No other team can match that body of work over the past nine seasons, but it also doesn't inform what's happening this season.
Thompson also addressed trade rumors that he's been mentioned in, noting he doesn't "partake in NBA discourse" and he wants to remain with Golden State.
There doesn't appear to be much of a chance Thompson gets moved by the 3 p.m. ET deadline on Thursday. ESPN's Brian Windhorst reported on Tuesday the Warriors "are not trading" the five-time All-Star.
This has been a strange week in what has been an unusual season for Thompson. Head coach Steve Kerr left him out of the closing lineup in wins over the Memphis Grizzlies and Brooklyn Nets.
Thompson broke out of an offensive slump against the Sixers with 18 points on 4-of-5 shooting from three-point range. He scored a total of 18 points on 8-of-28 shooting in the previous two games combined.
While the Warriors' main trio does have a terrific resume to draw from, the 2023-24 team still has a lot of work to do if they want to make the playoffs, let alone challenge for a title. They are one game behind the Utah Jazz for the final spot in the play-in tournament with a 23-25 record.
