NBA Trade Rumors: Bulls' Andre Drummond Eyed by Lakers, Celtics, Suns, Mavericks
The Chicago Bulls are reportedly fielding interest for multiple players ahead of Thursday's NBA trade deadline, but it remains to be seen if any of them will get moved.
According to HoopsHype's Michael Scotto, one Bulls player "who could be dealt" is veteran center Andre Drummond, who has "drawn trade interest" from the Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks and Phoenix Suns.
Drummond has played in all 50 games for the 23-27 Bulls with seven starts. Despite averaging just 15.8 minutes, he ranks second on the team with 8.3 rebounds per game while also adding 7.7 points and 1.1 steals. Scotto noted that his per-36 average of 18.9 rebounds is his career-high, and he's shown the ability to be more productive when given the opportunity with averages of 14 points and 17.4 rebounds in 27.7 minutes in his seven starts.
Each of the four teams Scotto named is hoping to contend for a playoff spot this season and could use some additional frontcourt depth. Drummond is a top-notch rebounder and a reliable rim protector who can help shore up any defensive woes on a squad that needs to improve in that area.
In addition to Drummond, the Bulls have multiple players who are coveted around the league. Star shooting guard Zach LaVine was frequently mentioned in trade rumors before it was announced that he would undergo season-ending foot surgery.
Veteran sharpshooter DeMar DeRozan and swingman Alex Caruso are Chicago's top remaining assets, but ESPN's Brian Windhorst reported on Monday's episode of The Hoop Collective that the Bulls are unlikely to trade either of them.
The Bulls would be wise to recoup assets for Drummond if they don't plan on moving the other players drawing interest from other teams.
