Knicks Rumors: NY Eyes 'Bigger' Trades Than Raptors' Bruce Brown amid Lakers Buzz
If Bruce Brown is traded for a second time this season, it might not be to the New York Knicks.
Matt Moore of Action Network reported that New York is "seeking bigger deals" even though it has been "mentioned as a potential landing spot" for the Toronto Raptors guard ahead of Thursday's trade deadline.
Moore cited a source who said Brown could be more of a "Plan B or C" option for the Knicks.
He was already moved to the Raptors as part of the deal that brought Pascal Siakam to the Indiana Pacers earlier this season and is someone who can contribute in a number of ways with per-game averages of 11.8 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.1 steals.
That would be valuable for a number of teams, but Moore also noted the Los Angeles Lakers have "at least temporarily moved away from talks" for Brown.
As for New York, it seems to be thinking bigger.
It is 32-18 and sitting in fourth place in the Eastern Conference playoff race. Its nine-game winning streak was snapped by Saturday's loss to the Lakers, and it already landed OG Anunoby as a do-everything type of playmaker who provides excellent defense and the ability to hit from three when defenses collapse on Jalen Brunson and Julius Randle.
There could be some overlap in that role with Brown.
While Brown is an excellent role player who thrived alongside Nikola Jokić while helping lead the Denver Nuggets to the championship last season, the Knicks likely need someone who would make an even more significant impact if they are going to build a roster capable of defeating the Boston Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks in the playoffs.
