National Signing Day 2024: Top Unsigned Recruits to Watch
This past week, NFL teams began ramping up the pre-draft process by taking a look at prospects at the East-West Shrine Bowl and Senior Bowl. College teams, meanwhile, are busy eyeing their next wave of potential stars.
The regular signing period is set to open on Wednesday, and the remaining top 2024 recruits are expected to soon announce their decisions. While the early signing period opened back on December 20, and many of the top incoming players have already committed, the coming days should still bring a fair amount of intrigue.
While the final signing date isn't until April 1, fans can expect multiple major announcements later this week.
Below, we'll dive into some of the latest recruiting buzz and examine some of the top recruits who, as of now, remain unsigned.
Terry Bussey, Athlete, Timpson

Athlete Terry Bussey of Timpson (Texas) is one of the most intriguing recruits to track this week. Ranked as the 16th overall recruit by 247Sports, Bussey has the upside of a potential future first-round draft pick.
Bussey's situation is interesting because, while he's already committed to Texas A&M, he hasn't officially signed—and he could pivot to a different destination by the time the signing period opens.
The 5-star recruit has recently visited with both LSU and Georgia and could potentially flip his commitment to either program. According to On3's Sam Spiegelman (h/t Zack Nagy of FanNation), Bussey's choice is expected to be between the Tigers and Aggies.
LSU is definitely one to watch, since Bussey has made multiple visits and remained in touch with the Tigers.
"They've been pushing and they're still pushing. We have a great relationship and I talk to them every day," Bussey said of LSU, per On3's Shea Dixon.
As the top-ranked athlete in the country, Bussey and his decision loom large as signing day approaches.
Noah Carter, EDGE, Centennial and Ryan Williams, WR, Saraland

Noah Carter, a 4-star edge-rushing recruit from Centennial Centennial (Peoria, Arizona) isn't expected to bring as much uncertainty into the singing period. Carter committed to Alabama late last month, though he has yet to officially sign.
Initially, Carter had committed to Washington. However, he de-committed after head coach Kalen DeBoer left to replace Nick Saban with the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Wide receiver Ryan Williams of Saraland (Alabama) is likewise committed to Alabama following an initial change of heart.
Williams, 247Sports' eighth-ranked overall recruit, de-committed from Alabama following Saban's retirement. With DeBoer now in the fold, Williams is back in for the Crimson Tide.
"This has been one of the best decisions I've made in my life," Williams said, per Jerry Humphrey III of the Montgomery Advertiser. "I believe in coach DeBoer and he believes in me. I believe in this new system and I know the Tide will continue to do what they do."
Carter and Williams should make their intent to join Alabama official as early as Wednesday. Until they do, however, the possibility of a proverbial curveball does exist.
Timothy Carpenter, QB, Trotwood-Madison
3 of 3
There isn't much uncertainty surrounding this year's top quarterback recruits—certainly not with Jones (Orlando, Florida) signal-caller Trever Jackson poised to join Florida State. The 4-star quarterback de-committed from Mississippi in October and hadn't provided much clarity since.
However, Jackson has both committed to and enrolled at Florida State, according to The Athletic's Grace Raynor.
With Jackson off the board, Trotwood-Madison (Dayton, Ohio) quarterback Timothy Carpenter becomes arguably the most intriguing quarterback to watch. He has committed to Tulsa but only de-committed from Indiana in December.
Landing Carpenter would be a significant win for Tulsa, as he has all the traits needed to be a quality collegiate starter.
"Has tested well and shown he has the foot-speed to escape pressure and be a running threat," Allen Trieu of 247Sports wrote. "At the high school level though, he has shown he can stand in the pocket and make throws and then uses his feet when he needs to."
It'll be interesting to see if any other programs try to swoop in and steal Carpenter away from Tulsa at the 11th hour.
