Jimmy Butler's Agent Says Heat Star Won't Be Traded in Response to Kendrick Perkins
Jimmy Butler's agent has responded to Kendrick Perkins' call for the Miami Heat to trade the star ahead of next Thursday's deadline.
On Tuesday, Perkins declared the Heat and Butler need to part ways as Miami continues to struggle.
"It's time for the Miami Heat and Jimmy Butler to go their separate ways," Perkins said. "And I believe that the Miami Heat need to do right by Jimmy and trade him to a team that actually could compete for a title this season."
Butler's agent, Bernard Lee, clapped back at Perkins, saying that the Heat aren't going to trade Butler, and he even claimed that Butler will win a championship in Miami.
Butler has come close to winning a championship twice already with the Heat, leading them to the NBA Finals in 2020 and last season, but he's still looking to bring home his first ring.
Miami hasn't looked on pace for a Finals run this season, however, sitting in seventh place in the Eastern Conference at 25-23. The Heat have had a rough start to the year, winning just six of their 16 games in January, and they're looking to get back on track at the halfway point in the season.
Miami has already been active in the trade market, dealing Kyle Lowry and a first-round pick to the Charlotte Hornets for Terry Rozier. The Heat could be looking to make a few more moves before the Feb. 8 trade deadline, but according to his agent, none of those moves would involve Butler.
