Tom Brady Praises New Patriots HC Jerod Mayo: 'I Think He'll Do a Great Job'
New England Patriots legend Tom Brady believes Jerod Mayo will be a great successor to Bill Belichick for the franchise.
Brady and Mayo were teammates for eight seasons, and Mayo's first year on staff as the inside linebackers coach was Brady's last with the Patriots.
The seven-time Super Bowl champion said Tuesday on The Pat McAfee Show that Mayo "was a great leader, a great captain" and praised how the 37-year-old interacts with his players.

Mayo is in an unenviable position as he takes over for one of the greatest coaches in NFL history. And while he's prepared to "burn some cash" this offseason, the Patriots likely require a total overhaul in order to be a Super Bowl contender again.
But the former linebacker was one of the most obvious candidates to replace Belichick once the writing was on the wall regarding the 71-year-old's tenure. Mayo is well acquainted with the "Patriot Way," but he'll know his job isn't as simple as using Belichick's blueprint.
Plenty of fans will have already been on board with Mayo's promotion, and Brady's endorsement obviously doesn't hurt.
