Jared Goff: 'It Would Be Great' to Sign Long-Term Lions Contract After Playoff Run
Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff told reporters on Monday that he'd be excited to sign a long-term contract with the team.
"I've loved every second of my time here, and would love more," Goff said, according to Kyle Meinke of MLive.com. "I love [head coach] Dan [Campbell], I love the coaches and all my teammates. Yeah, it would be great. But it's not up to me."

Expectations weren't high for Goff after he was traded from the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for Matthew Stafford in Jan. 2021, although he's developed into a crucial piece of Detroit's offense. He helped lead the Lions to a 12-5 record in 2023, completing 67.3 percent of his passes for 4,575 yards and 30 touchdowns against 12 interceptions.
Thanks to Goff and Detroit's dominant run game, Campbell's team owned the No. 5 scoring offense in the NFL. While the 29-year-old spoke about his desire to remain with the organization, he acknowledged that the decision to offer him a long-term deal is out of his control.
"It's not up to me," Goff said, per Meinke. "I love this place, and we'll see what happens as time goes on here. But yeah, I love this place, and love Dan and all the coaches love and all my teammates. It's out of my hands, it's up to my representatives and obviously the people upstairs."
The former No. 1 overall pick elevated his game in the playoffs, which could make the front office feel more comfortable about keeping him in Detroit. In three postseason starts, Goff averaged 279.0 yards per game while recording 4 touchdowns without getting picked off.
The Lions won their first playoff game since 1992 and nearly made their first Super Bowl appearance before a 17-point halftime lead was erased by the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship game.
