Kansas City Chiefs defensive end Charles Omenihu will miss the Super Bowl against the San Francisco 49ers with a torn ACL, per NFL insider Jordan Schultz.

Omenihu expressed his heartbreak in a social media post:

The pass-rusher suffered the injury in a 17-10 AFC Championship Game win against the Baltimore Ravens. He recorded a sack and a forced fumble before the injury.

Omenihu has been a big part of Kansas City's defensive success this season, notching 28 tackles, seven sacks and a pair of forced fumbles in 11 games. Now, Kansas City will have to manage without him in the biggest game of the year.

Omenihu's strip-sack in Sunday's AFC Championship Game proved to be pivotal in the win. With the Chiefs leading 14-7 in the second quarter, Lamar Jackson and the Ravens were looking to mount a touchdown drive to tie things up before halftime. Omenihu quickly put a stop to that drive with the forced fumble and slowed Baltimore's momentum.

The Chiefs went on to win Sunday's game 17-10 with Omenihu and the defense walking away as the difference-maker.

Kansas City will rely on its defense again in the Super Bowl against an explosive San Francisco offense. The 49ers, behind running back Christian McCaffrey, have rushed for the third-most yards this season and have notched 27 rushing touchdowns, which is tied for the most in the NFL.

Now, the Chiefs will have to try to contain McCaffrey and San Francisco without the help of Omenihu.
