NFL Rumors: Bucs Target Brian Johnson and Alex Van Pelt to Replace OC Canales
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are in the market for a new offensive coordinator.
Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reported on NFL GameDay on Sunday that former former Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Brian Johnson is set to interview for the job after offensive coordinator Dave Canales departed to take the Carolina Panthers head coaching job, while NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported on Monday morning that former Cleveland Browns offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt will interview for the position on Monday.

Garafolo also linked Los Angeles Rams pass game specialist Jake Peetz as a potential dark horse candidate for the position as well.
Johnson was fired by the Eagles after a 1-6 end to the season. He served as the team's offensive coordinator for one season and had been the quarterbacks coach in 2021 and 2022. Prior to that, he had spent several years at the collegiate level, including three separate stints as an offensive coordinator at Utah, Houston and Florida.
Peetz is the pass game coordinator for the Rams and previously had tenures as a quarterback coach for the Carolina Panthers and Oakland Raiders.
The Tampa Bay job is definitely an intriguing one for prospective coordinators. The team is coming off a 9-8 season that saw it win the NFC South for the third consecutive season and reach the Divisional Round of the playoffs.
The Buccaneers are expected to try to bring back quarterback Baker Mayfield and have significant cap space to play with.
