Raiders Rumors: 49ers' Klint Kubiak Eyed for OC Job; Decision Expected This Week
Klint Kubiak may become an offensive coordinator once again.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the San Francisco 49ers passing game specialist "has received offensive coordinator interest" while helping lead the team to the NFC Championship Game. The New Orleans Saints interviewed him, and the Las Vegas Raiders may interview him as well if San Francisco loses to the Detroit Lions in Sunday's game.
Rapoport noted that "Las Vegas is set to make an early decision this week either way."

NFL coach calls CFB transfer players 'clowns'
Kubiak's resume includes time on college staffs at Texas A&M and Kansas, as well as NFL stops with the Minnesota Vikings and Denver Broncos.
Most notably, he was the quarterbacks coach in Minnesota in 2019 and 2020 before becoming the offensive coordinator in 2021. He was also the quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator with the Broncos in 2022.
The 2021 Vikings finished 8-9 and missed the playoffs, but Kubiak's offense impressed at times.
Kirk Cousins threw for 4,221 yards, 33 touchdowns and seven interceptions, Justin Jefferson tallied 1,616 receiving yards and 10 touchdown catches, and Dalvin Cook ran for 1,159 yards. He got the most out of his stars, which is notable for a Raiders team that has Davante Adams on the outside and could look to bring back Josh Jacobs in the backfield.
Las Vegas made Antonio Pierce the full-time head coach this offseason, which made the offensive coordinator spot all the more important given his defensive background.
Kubiak's name is in the mix after an impressive season in San Francisco in which second-year quarterback Brock Purdy threw for 4,280 yards, 31 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Purdy, who was the final pick of the 2022 NFL draft, proved his five regular-season starts as a rookie weren't a fluke while working with Kubiak.
Perhaps that will be enough to convince the Raiders to bring the veteran coach aboard as an offensive coordinator in 2024.
