Jim Harbaugh Backs Michigan's Sherrone Moore: 'He Will Make Us All Very Proud'
Jim Harbaugh has confidence in Michigan's new head coach Sherrone Moore.
According to the Associated Press (h/t ESPN), the ex-Michigan head coach, who is taking over as the head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers, shared his confidence in Moore, who the Wolverines promoted to head coach on Friday.
"The only person I would want to do the job," Harbaugh wrote in a text message Saturday. "I have 100% conviction that he will make us all very proud!!!"
Moore, who has been at Michigan in several different roles since 2017, will be a head coach for the first time in 2024, though he gained some valuable experience this past season.
Moore served as the Wolverines' head coach in four games in 2023 while Harbaugh was suspended on two different occasions—the first suspension for alleged recruiting violations during the COVID-19 pandemic and the second for his involvement in the alleged sign-stealing saga.
Moore went 4-0 in those games, including impressive wins over Penn State and Ohio State. His handling of his interim term was certainly a factor in him landing the head coaching job.
He has big shoes to fill taking over Harbaugh, who had just one losing season in the shortened 2020 season and led the Wolverines to three Big Ten titles, three College Football Playoff appearances and a national title last season.
Getting the nod from Harbaugh on Saturday will give Moore some confidence as he begins his new journey.
