Patriots Rumors: Luke Getsy to Interview for OC Job; 49ers' Fleury Also Met with NE
The New England Patriots are planning to interview former Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Luke Getsy for their vacant OC position, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
It was also reported by NFL Network's Tom Pelissero that the Pats have interviewed San Francisco 49ers tight ends coach Brian Fleury for their offensive coordinator job.
New England's OC position became available last week when previous offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien left for the same job at Ohio State in the wake of Bill Belichick stepping down as head coach and getting replaced by Jerod Mayo.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮
After serving as an offensive quality control coach, wide receivers coach, quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator over two separate stints with the Green Bay Packers, Bears head coach Matt Eberflus hired him as his OC in 2022.
Chicago ranked 28th in total offense and 23rd in scoring offense in 2022, but it took some steps forward this season, ranking 20th in total offense and 18th in scoring.
Despite missing four games, quarterback Justin Fields set new career highs with a 61.4 percent completion percentage and 2,562 passing yards, plus he threw 16 touchdown passes and a career-low nine interceptions.
Getsy also got the most out of wide receiver D.J. Moore, who had a career year with 96 receptions for 1,364 yards and eight touchdowns.
Even so, the Bears decided to move on from Getsy, perhaps in anticipation of trading Fields and selecting a quarterback with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft.
Whoever gets the Patriots' OC job will likely be working with a new quarterback, as New England had a nightmarish season in 2023, going 4-13 and ranking 31st in scoring with 13.9 points per game.
Neither Mac Jones nor Bailey Zappe got the job done at quarterback, so the Pats are prime candidates to use the No. 3 pick in the draft on a QB such as USC's Caleb Williams, North Carolina's Drake Maye or LSU's Jayden Daniels, or they could sign a veteran like Kirk Cousins, or potentially even trade for Fields.
The Patriots have company when it comes to courting Getsy, though, as he completed an interview with the Las Vegas Raiders already, per Fowler.
While Getsy is the experienced choice, Fleury would be getting his first crack at an OC job.
He has spent the past two seasons as the Niners' tight ends coach under head coach Kyle Shanahan, and he was both a defensive quality control coach and offensive quality control coach in San Francisco the previous three seasons.
Although Fleury doesn't have play-calling experience, offensive coaches who have been part of Shanahan's staff are hot commodities in coaching circles.
Mike McDaniel has made the Miami Dolphins' offense one of the most explosive in the league since leaving San Francisco, and the Pats may hope to similarly catch lightning in a bottle with Fleury.
