NBA Trade Rumors: Malcolm Brogdon Linked to Lakers, Knicks, Rockets Ahead of Deadline
Portland Trail Blazers guard Malcolm Brogdon could generate a lot of attention from teams leading up to the NBA trade deadline on Feb. 8.
Per Yahoo Sports' Jake Fischer, the Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks and Houston Rockets are among the teams that could look to bring Brogdon aboard.
While it's not clear how much interest those clubs have in Brogdon at this point, Fischer noted they are among the "main clubs involved in evaluating players at the upper echelon" of the position right now.
According to Fischer, the starting price for many point guards, including Brogdon and Tyus Jones, right now is "at least" a first-round draft pick.
The Lakers' interest in Brogdon might not be very strong because The Athletic's Jovan Buha noted they see him as more of a lateral move "at best" from D'Angelo Russell.
The Rockets and Knicks would almost certainly be looking to Brogdon as someone who can run the second-unit offense at a high level. Jalen Brunson is having the best season of his career with 26.5 points and 6.4 assists per game in 43 starts for New York.
The Knicks have already taken a big swing by acquiring OG Anunoby from the Toronto Raptors. They are currently fourth in the Eastern Conference with a 28-17 record.
Fred VanVleet has had some up-and-down moments in his first season with Houston, but he's still averaging 17.3 points on 38.2 percent three-point shooting and a career-high 8.5 assists per game.
While Houston's offseason spending on VanVleet and Dillon Brooks has helped the club become more competitive, its 20-23 record is only good enough for 11th in the Western Conference.
Brogdon, who is signed through next season, is averaging 15.7 points on 42.2 percent three-point shooting and 5.3 assists per game in 35 appearances for the Blazers.
