NBA Rumors: Suns 'Interested' in Miles Bridges Trade with Hornets at 2024 Deadline
Despite their limited resources and cap flexibility, the Phoenix Suns are keeping an eye on Charlotte Hornets forward Miles Bridges ahead of the Feb. 8 NBA trade deadline.
Per Duane Rankin of the Arizona Republic, the Suns are "interested" in Bridges as a potential rental player for the rest of this season.
Bridges signed a one-year, $7.9 million qualifying offer with the Hornets in July. He didn't play during the 2022-23 season, pleading no contest to a felony domestic violence charge of injuring a child's parent stemming from a June 2022 arrest after allegedly assaulting his ex-wife, Mychelle Johnson, in front of their children.

He was facing a total of three felony charges, but two were dismissed as part of the plea agreement. He was sentenced to three years probation that requires him to meet certain benchmarks, including completing 52 weeks of domestic violence counseling and parenting classes, serve 100 hours of community service and undergo weekly narcotics testing, with marijuana allowed only if there is a valid doctor's prescription.
The NBA suspended Bridges for 30 games this season, but he was credited with 20 games served for sitting out all of last season.
In October, Bridges turned himself in to Lincoln County authorities for violating a domestic violence protection order, misdemeanor child abuse and injury to personal property after he was accused of continually contacting the victim on social media.
Bridges has appeared in 31 games for the Hornets this season.
Per Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports, the Utah Jazz are among "several" teams who have called the Hornets about the 25-year-old.
The Suns have several obstacles to clear if they want to acquire Bridges. Rankin noted the Hornets are seeking draft picks in a potential trade, something the Suns don't really have.
Phoenix's trades for Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal have left it with only five second-round picks available between 2024 and 2029.
If it gets to a point where there are multiple teams bidding on Bridges, it's hard to see how the Suns could put forth the best offer based on the assets they have at their disposal.
