Australian Open 2024 Results: Instant Reactions to Winners and Losers from Friday
Jannik Sinner earned the most notable win of his remarkable run at the 2024 Australian Open on Friday.
The fourth-seeded Italian reached his first Grand Slam final with a four-set win over 10-time Australian Open champion and No. 1 seed Novak Djokovic.
Sinner has been the most consistent player in the men's singles draw all tournament and all that stands between him and his first major title is Daniil Medvedev.
Medvedev reached his third Australian Open final in four years with a five-set win over Alexander Zverev.
Zverev won the first two sets of the match, but then faltered against the No. 3 seed inside Rod Laver Arena.
Medvedev will go for his second-career Grand Slam title in Sunday's final. He won his first major at the 2021 U.S. Open.

Sinner probably should have won in straight sets.
That is how strong the Italian played against the top-seeded Djokovic.
Djokovic had no answer for the No. 4 seed in the first two sets, as he managed to win just three of 15 games.
The 10-time Australian Open champion fought his way back into the match in the third set, but even that looked like a struggle against the in-form Sinner.
Djokovic earned a third-set tiebreak victory, but he could not match Sinner's level in the fourth set.
The loss was Djokovic's first defeat in Melbourne since the 2018 fourth round. He won the previous four Australian Opens he participated and did not play in the 2022 event.
Sinner entered Melbourne with five Grand Slam quarterfinal and one semifinal appearance, but he had not earned the breakthrough into the championship match.
Sinner comes into the final against Medvedev with a single dropped set, the third set against Djokovic, across six matches.
The Italian may not be favored against the No. 3 seed, but he should have a decent chance of capturing the title.
No. 3 Daniil Medvedev Def. No. 6 Alexander Zverev, 5-7, 3-6, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (5), 6-3

Medvedev's comeback was as impressive as Zverev's choke.
The No. 3 seed did what Djokovic could not do on Friday and rallied from two sets down to reach the final.
Zverev controlled the first two sets, but then Medvedev got back into the match with a third-set tiebreak win.
Medvedev battled to a win in the fourth-set tiebreak to swing the momentum even more in his favor.
The 2021 U.S. Open champion broke Zverev's serve at 2-2 in the fifth set and then he did it again to win the match in the ninth game of the final set.
Zverev's loss marked the second time in his career that he lost a match after he was up two sets. The other came in the 2020 U.S. Open final against Dominic Thiem.
Medvedev will go into his sixth-career Grand Slam final with significantly more court time in Melbourne than Sinner.
The No. 3 seed battled won in five sets three times in the tournament, including the last two rounds.
