Australian Open 2024 Men's Semifinal: TV Schedule, Start Time, Live Stream
Four of the top six men's tennis players in the world advanced to the 2024 Australian Open semifinals.
Novak Djokovic is the headline name of the quartet, but you could make a case for each of the other three semifinalists to win in Melbourne.
Jannik Sinner, Daniil Medvedev and Alexander Zverev all displayed title-winning qualities to reach the final four.
Sinner has been the most dominant player in the men's singles draw, while Medvedev and Zverev both fought through four-and-five-set matches to stay alive.
Djokovic will face Sinner on Friday, while Medvedev takes on Zverev. The start times for both matches have yet to be determined. The matches will be televised on ESPN2 and streamed on ESPN+.
Novak Djokovic vs. Jannik Sinner
1 of 2
Djokovic and Sinner have become more familiar with each other over the last 12 months.
The top-seeded Serbian and fourth-seeded Italian squared off in the Wimbledon semifinals, the ATP Tour Finals and the Davis Cup Finals in 2023.
Sinner won the last head-to-head battle in the Davis Cup. That was a big breakthrough for the Italian, who took Djokovic to five sets at Wimbledon in 2022.
Sinner enters the semifinal in the best form he could ask for. He won all five of his matches in Melbourne in straight sets.
The No. 4 seed turned in a near-flawless performance against No. 5 seed Andrey Rublev in the quarterfinals and that should boost his confidence ahead of Friday's matchup.
Djokovic is still Djokovic, a 10-time winner in Australia, but he has not been perfect during his run to the final four.
Djokovic was taken to a fourth set in three of his five matches, including the quarterfinal against Fritz.
The No. 1 seed still has the quality to win in straight sets, but that seems unlikely given the form Sinner is in.
Daniil Medvedev vs. Alexander Zverev
2 of 2
Medvedev and Zverev will play for the 19th time in their careers on Friday.
Medvedev owns an 11-7 edge over Zverev and he won five of the six clashes they had in 2023.
The No. 3 seed enters Friday off the more difficult match, as he needed five sets to get past Hubert Hurkacz.
Zverev controlled the first two sets against Carlos Alcaraz and finished off that contest in four sets.
Zverev is a seven-time Grand Slam semifinalist, but he has a 1-6 record in those matches. He only got through to the final at the 2020 U.S. Open.
Medvedev qualified for five Grand Slam finals in his career. Two of those appearances came at the 2020 and 2021 Australian Opens.
Medvedev's Grand Slam semifinal record and history against Zverev will make him the favorite, but if Zverev plays like he did against Alcaraz, the match could be incredibly close.
