Raiders Rumors: Alex Van Pelt to Interview for OC Job Under Pierce After Browns Stint
After being fired by the Cleveland Browns following four seasons as the team's offensive coordinator, Alex Van Pelt is reportedly in the running to land with another AFC team.
According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, Van Pelt is set to interview with the Las Vegas Raiders this week for their offensive coordinator opening on Antonio Pierce's coaching staff.
Van Pelt, who also held the role of quarterbacks coach in 2023, had been a member of the Browns coaching staff since Kevin Stefanski was hired as head coach in 2020. Stefanski has been the team's primary offensive play-caller during his tenure in Cleveland, but Van Pelt was an integral part of the game planning.

The Browns started five different quarterbacks this season but still managed to finish with an 11-6 record and clinch a playoff spot for the first time since 2020. Cleveland was eliminated from the postseason with a 45-14 loss to the Houston Texans in the AFC Wild Card Round.
Prior to joining the Browns, Van Pelt worked on coaching staffs for the Cincinnati Bengals, Green Bay Packers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Buffalo Bills. He had a brief stint as Bills offensive coordinator in 2009. The former NFL quarterback spent 10 out of his 11 seasons in Buffalo from 1994 to 2003, also suiting up for the Kansas City Chiefs in 1993.
In addition to Van Pelt, the Raiders are also interviewing former Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Luke Getsy and Los Angeles Rams quarterbacks coach Zac Robinson, per Pro Football Talk's Josh Alper.
The Raiders are hoping to put together the right staff under Pierce to help the team bounce back from missing the playoffs in each of the last two years.
