Peter King Questions If Bill Belichick Will Be Hired by Any NFL Team for Open HC Job
After parting ways with the New England Patriots, legendary head coach Bill Belichick was believed to be the most coveted coaching candidate on the market. However, one expert questions if he'll even receive a job offer this offseason.
While Belichick has interviewed with the Atlanta Falcons twice so far, NBC Sports' Peter King doesn't believe it's a guarantee that he will be coaching in 2024.
"I believe we've all assumed Belichick was going to get a high-quality job, or at least, in the case of the Falcons, a decent job," King stated. "Now the question is: Will he get one at all?"

King pointed out that despite having two meetings with the six-time Super Bowl champion coach, the Falcons have a second interview scheduled with Jim Harbaugh this week and opened their coaching search to include several high-profile candidates like Ben Johnson, Raheem Morris, Joe Brady, Aaron Glenn, Brian Callahan, Steve Wilks, Bobby Slowik and Mike Vrabel.
Belichick has yet to meet with another team, which could play into Atlanta's hesitation to commit to him.
"I also think the Falcons must be thinking, If we hold Belichick in high regard, why does no other team? He's had no other interviews, at least not any we know of," King wrote. "It's weird. Maybe teams sniffing around coaches don't think hiring a soon-to-be 72-year-old guy regardless of resume is such a good idea. We shall see."
There's no doubt that Belichick is one of the greatest coaches of all time, but teams around the league could be interested in someone younger and more innovative so they can keep pace in today's NFL.
