Rapoport: Bill Belichick May Hire Ex-Raiders HC Josh McDaniels if Named Falcons HC
It looks like Bill Belichick could be interested in joining forces with Josh McDaniels once again in a new location.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported on NFL GameDay that the former New England Patriots head coach had completed two interviews with the Atlanta Falcons and that if he were to land the head coaching job, it would not come as a surprise if McDaniels joined him.

"They're doing a robust search; it's going to be very wide open," Rapoport said. "But Belichick of course has interest there, and do not be surprised if Josh McDaniels ends up landing with Belichick if he goes to Atlanta."
Rapoport reported that McDaniels would likely serve in "some role," which means that he may not necessarily be named the offensive coordinator.
McDaniels spent 13 nonconsecutive seasons as the Patriots offensive coordinator as well as five additional seasons in different roles with the organization.
The entirety of this was with Belichick as the Patriots head coach, and McDaniels was on the staff for all six of the franchise's Super Bowl championships. His time away from Belichick and the Patriots has been tumultuous, but his work alongside Belichick does provide some potential for greatness.
The Falcons are coming off a 7-10 season and missed the playoffs for the sixth consecutive season. This came despite Atlanta having a talented defense and some exciting offensive pieces, including 2023 first-round pick Bijan Robinson.
The Falcons need to find an answer at quarterback, which is something McDaniels and Belichick will need to prove as well as the two have struggled to find success at the position without Tom Brady. Still, the greatness the pair have achieved together could be exactly what Atlanta needs to take the next step and conquer the NFC South.
