Yankees' Cashman: Giancarlo Stanton 'in a Really Good Place' with Diet, Conditioning
New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman revealed that slugger Giancarlo Stanton is "in a really good place" between his diet and conditioning ahead of the 2024 season, according to Bryan Hoch of MLB.com.
"He's always been one of the most feared hitters in the game," Cashman said. "He's looking forward to getting back to that."
New York's general manager and Stanton's agent, Joel Wolfe, briefly exchanged words through the media following Cashman's comments regarding the availability of the former National League MVP.

"He's going to wind up getting hurt again more likely than not because it seems to be part of his game," Cashman said about Stanton on Nov. 13, per Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News. "But I know that when he's right and healthy—other than this past year—the guy's a great hitter and has been for a long time."
Wolfe responded the following day in a statement to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.
"I think it's a good reminder for all free agents considering signing in New York, both foreign and domestic that to play for that team, you've got to be made of Teflon, both mentally and physically because you can never let your guard down even in the offseason," Wolfe said.
It appears that the air was cleared after Cashman mentioned on Nov. 16 that he talked to both Stanton and Wolfe directly and said, "I feel like everything's in a good spot" after the meeting (via Hoch).
With his latest comments, it seems as though everyone is now on the same page.
The 34-year-old has struggled to stay on the field after he was traded to the Yankees in Dec. 2017. He's appeared in more than 110 games in just two of his six seasons in New York, suiting up for 101 contests in 2023. His production declined in his latest season with the Yankees as a Grade 2 hamstring strain severely hampered his athleticism.
Stanton posted a career-low .695 OPS in 2023, hitting .191 to go along with 24 home runs and 64 RBIs.
