NFL Playoff Bracket 2024: Super Bowl Scenarios, Odds Before Divisional Round
Only one NFL team can end the 2023 season as the Super Bowl champion. Eight are still in the running, but that number will be sliced in half during this weekend's divisional-round action, which will feature a pair of games on Saturday and another two on Sunday.
In last weekend's wild-card round, the better-seeded home teams were dominant, winning five of the six matchups. The only road team that emerged victorious was the No. 7-seeded Green Bay Packers, who defeated the No. 2 Dallas Cowboys.
So the Packers will be the only team playing in the divisional round that isn't a top-four seed in its conference. Also, the Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers (the No. 1 seeds in the AFC and the NFC, respectively) will be in action for the first time this postseason after getting first-round byes.
With the playoffs continuing to unfold, here's a look at the current Super Bowl odds for each team, followed by the schedule and scenarios for the upcoming divisional round.
Current Super Bowl Odds
1 of 3
San Francisco 49ers: +175 (bet $10 to win $17.50)
Baltimore Ravens: +290
Buffalo Bills: +500
Kansas City Chiefs: +700
Detroit Lions: +900
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: +2500
Green Bay Packers: +2500
Houston Texans: +2800
AFC Divisional Round Schedule, Scenarios
2 of 3
No. 4 Houston at No. 1 Baltimore, Saturday at 4:30 p.m. ET, ESPN/ABC
No. 3 Kansas City at No. 2 Buffalo, Sunday at 6:30 p.m. ET, CBS
As long as the Ravens win, the AFC Championship Game will be held in Baltimore the following week. It would be the first time they've hosted the conference title matchup, as they were on the road for each of their previous four appearances in the contest. They also haven't made the AFC title game since the 2012 season.
But it's possible that either the Bills or Chiefs could host the AFC Championship Game, if the Texans go on the road and knock off the Ravens. Houston is the only one of the four teams that can't be the home team in the conference title matchup.
Buffalo hasn't been in the AFC Championship Game since the 2020 campaign, when it lost at Kansas City. The Bills haven't won a conference title since capturing four in a row from 1990 to 1993.
If the Chiefs host the AFC Championship Game, it wouldn't be anything new to them, as Kansas City has served as the site of the contest each of the previous five seasons. The Chiefs advanced to the Super Bowl in three of those years.
It would be a bit surprising if Baltimore doesn't host the AFC Championship Game. The Ravens went an NFL-best 13-4 during the regular season, and one of those losses came in Week 18, when they rested many of their starters against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
But the Texans have been on a roll of late. They won their final two games of the regular season to capture the AFC South title, then stormed past the Cleveland Browns in the wild-card round, notching a 45-14 victory.
The Chiefs-Bills matchup should be a thrilling one, as it usually is exciting when top quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen face off. It could again turn into a fast-paced, back-and-forth shootout in Buffalo.
NFC Divisional Round Schedule, Scenarios
3 of 3
No. 7 Green Bay at No. 1 San Francisco, Saturday at 8:15 p.m. ET, Fox
No. 4 Tampa Bay at No. 3 Detroit, Sunday at 3 p.m. ET, NBC
The 49ers reached the NFC Championship Game each of the previous two seasons and lost both times. However, those matchups occurred on the road. This year, San Francisco will host the conference title matchup if it gets there, because it's the No. 1 seed.
The only way the Niners won't host the NFC Championship Game is if they get upset by the Packers. Meanwhile, there's no way Green Bay plays at home during the playoffs, as it is the No. 7 seed and was the final NFC team to get into the postseason.
If the Packers pull off an upset, then either the Lions or the Buccaneers would be the home team in the NFC title matchup. Tampa Bay hasn't hosted the game since the 1979 season, as it was on the road for each of its previous three appearances. Detroit has never hosted it.
In fact, the Lions have reached the NFC Championship Game only once before. They made it there during the 1991 season, then lost to Washington.
This will also be Detroit's first appearance in the divisional round since that 1991 campaign. It defeated Dallas to advance to the conference title matchup.
Tampa Bay and Green Bay both went 9-8 during the regular season, but each appears to be playing well at the right time. The Bucs have won five of their past six games after defeating the Philadelphia Eagles in the wild-card round, while the Packers extended their winning streak to four by opening the playoffs with a victory over the Cowboys.
