Alabama LT Kadyn Proctor Enters Transfer Portal After Nick Saban's Retirement
Alabama offensive lineman Kadyn Proctor is entering the transfer portal, he told Hayes Fawcett of On3.
Proctor started all 14 games for the Crimson Tide last season as a true freshman. He joins a growing list of high-profile names to exit Alabama following the retirement of Nick Saban.
Safety Caleb Downs also entered the transfer market Wednesday. Cornerback Dez Ricks, tight end Amari Niblack, wide receiver Isaiah Bond and running back Roydell Williams are also among the notables who are leaving Alabama in the wake of Saban's exit.
Saban announced his retirement last week in a move that sent shockwaves around college football. While Alabama went to work quickly in finding a replacement, landing Kalen DeBoer from Washington, it's not a surprise that players are reconsidering their place at Alabama.
DeBoer has been a success everywhere he's been in his coaching career but has only two years of Power Five experience. In comparison to Saban, who has been a machine at churning out first-round picks, DeBoer is a coaching neophyte.
Proctor came to Alabama as the fifth-ranked prospect in the 2023 recruiting class. He wasted no time becoming an anchor on the Tide's offensive line, earning freshman All-American honors and looking every bit like a future first-round pick.
247Sports ranks Proctor as the second-best player in the transfer portal, behind only Downs. Players leaving Alabama represent three of the top four players in the portal overall, with Bond ranking fourth.
Matt Zenitz of 247Sports reported Iowa is a school to watch for Proctor.
