Texans' Noah Brown Placed on IR With Shoulder Injury; Out for Rest of NFL Playoffs

Andrew PetersJan 15, 2024

Houston Texans wide receiver Noah Brown has been placed on the injury reserve list, the team announced Monday.

Brown sustained a shoulder injury in Saturday's wild-card win over the Cleveland Browns, and now he will miss the rest of the postseason.

Brown has recorded 567 receiving yards and two touchdowns this season and is the fourth-leading receiver for the Texans. He didn't have a reception in Saturday's game before going down with the injury.

Brown marks the second Texans receiver out for the remainder of the postseason, as the team's second-leading receiver Tank Dell is also out for the the playoffs after suffering a broken fibula in December.

The Texans picked up a dominant 45-14 win in their wild-card matchup against the Browns, with rookie quarterback CJ Stroud leading the way with 274 passing yards and three touchdowns. While the Texans are missing a few key receivers now, they can still count on top-receiver Nico Collins, who had 96 yards and a touchdown on six receptions on Saturday.

Collins has put together a huge third season in the NFL, racking up 1,297 receiving yards and eight touchdowns on 80 receptions this year. He's looking to continue his success into the postseason, and he's off to a good start after Saturday's game.

As the No. 4 seed in the AFC, the Texans are still waiting to find out who they will take on next. If the Buffalo Bills beat the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday, Houston will have to take on the top-seeded Baltimore Ravens on the road. If the Bills lose, the Texans will play Kansas City on the road.

If Houston is able to get past either Baltimore or Kansas City with an upset win, it will advance to its first AFC Championship in the team's 22-year history. Obviously, with another key receiver out, that task will be much more difficult.
