Celtics' Jaylen Brown Out vs. Pascal Siakam, Raptors with Knee Injury
The Boston Celtics will be without one of their best players in Monday night's game against the Toronto Raptors.
The team announced that star forward Jaylen Brown will miss the game due to a right knee hyperextension.
Brown is coming off a 32-point performance on 11-of-15 shooting in Saturday's 145-113 win over the Houston Rockets. He played 28 minutes and it's unclear when exactly he suffered the injury, but the Celtics announced he was questionable for Monday's game on Sunday night.
Saturday's outing was Brown's fourth 30-point performance in the last five games. It was also a strong comeback after he was held to 10 points in Thursday's 135-102 blowout loss to the Milwaukee Bucks.
"Last game we didn't feel like we were at our best," Brown said after Saturday's win. "Today we wanted to come out and make sure we stayed undefeated tonight on our home court."
At 30-9, the Celtics have the best record in the NBA entering Monday's road matchup against the Raptors. Boston is 19-0 at home, and it will return to Boston for back-to-back home games on Wednesday and Friday against the San Antonio Spurs and Denver Nuggets, respectively.
Without Brown in the lineup, more minutes will be available on the wing for players like Sam Hauser and Payton Pritchard. The Celtics are surely hoping that Brown won't be off the floor for too long as they try to continue their dominance this season.
