Guerrero is the son of Hall of Famer Vladimir Guerrero and the half-brother of Toronto Blue Jays star Vladimir Jr.
Borek and Cano cited the teenager's hitting as his best asset at this stage of his young career.
"Known for an ability to control the strike zone even at a young age, the left-handed hitter displays a short stroke with pop in his bat and has amply impressed evaluators during game action," the wrote.
The New York Post's Joel Sherman also spoke to a National League international scout who said Vladi has "above-average bat speed with potential plus-raw power as well." The scout did, however, caution he doesn't look to be as "pure a hitter" as Vlad Jr., who has a .279/.355/.490 slash line through five seasons in Toronto.
Guerrero didn't make the cut on MLB.com's list of the top 50 international prospects, either.
Catcher Yovanny Rodriguez will be considered the cornerstone of New York's international business this offseason. Rodriguez is the No. 6 overall player in MLB.com's ranking, and his scouting report describes him as "an advanced catching prospect" who "has the potential to be a star on both sides of the ball."
The Mets also reportedly added two other top-50 players, shortstop Jensy Rivas and outfielder Edward Lantigua.
