The other coaches expected to join DeBoer and Grubb are wide receivers coach JaMarcus Shephard and director of scouting Jerret McElwain. He is also expected to retain incumbent defensive line coach Freddie Roach and running backs coach Robert Gillespie.
This news comes after Grubb announced that he would not be next Washington head coach after DeBoer's departure. He also notably turned down the Alabama offensive coordinator job after the 2022 season. That job would ultimately go to Tommy Rees, who Grubb is now replacing as he joins DeBoer.
The Huskies 2023 success is certainly something that showcases Grubb's abilities as an offensive coordinator. Washington had the 12th-ranked offense in the FBS, won the final Pac-12 Conference Championship, defeated No. 3 Texas in the Sugar Bowl and reached the CFP National Championship for the first time in the committee's history.
While the Huskies came up short in the National Championship game, it was still an excellent season and gives DeBoer and Grubb some momentum as the pair look to succeed the legendary Nick Saban.
