Warriors' Moses Moody Out at Least 10 Days With Calf Injury, Steve Kerr Says

Andrew PetersJan 12, 2024

Golden State Warriors shooting guard Moses Moody will be out for at least 10 days, head coach Steve Kerr said on Friday.

Moody, who has a left calf strain, will be evaluated in 10 days. He suffered the injury in the Warriors' loss to the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday.

Moody has been effective amid the Warriors' struggles recently. He had 21 points against the Pelicans and also put up 21 points on Sunday in a loss to the Toronto Raptors. The first-round pick is averaging 8.7 points and 3.1 rebounds in 18 minutes per game — up from his 13 minutes per game last season.

The Warriors have lost six of their last eight games and currently sit in 12th place in the Western Conference at 17-20.

Moody's injury just adds to a list of absences for the Warriors. They are still without Draymond Green, who is working his way back after the league lifted his suspension last week. Golden State is also without veteran guard Chris Paul, who suffered a fractured left hand last week and is expected to be out for at least a month. Gary Payton II is also out for an extended period of time due to a left hamstring strain.

Those injuries have made the Warriors' hopes of getting out of a recent skid more difficult. The loss to the Pelicans on Wednesday was arguably rock bottom for Golden State, as the Warriors suffered their biggest loss of the season 141-105.

With the trade deadline nearing, it won't be a surprise to see the Warriors make a deal or two. The Warriors are reportedly open to trading Andrew Wiggins and Jonathan Kuminga, which could yield a piece that helps them get into the playoff race.

For now, Golden State will look to get back in the win column against the Chicago Bulls on Friday.
