Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮
New England's track record of attracting top players in the post-Brady world sort of speaks for itself, however. The Pats have missed the playoffs in three of the four years without him, have gone just 29-38 in that time and were one of the worst teams in football this past season.
The team's biggest offseason signing was wide receiver Juju Smith-Schuster, who penned a three-year, $22.5 million contract and promptly caught just 29 passes for 260 yards and a score in 11 games.
The Patriots have a talent deficiency. Whether that's down to the team becoming less attractive in the post-Brady years for potential free agents or just Bill Belichick making poor personnel decisions—or both—it's a legitimate issue.
