Jets Trade Rumors: Zach Wilson's Teammate Would Be 'Shocked If' QB Returns in 2024
It appears Zach Wilson's tenure with the New York Jets may come to an end this offseason.
One of Wilson's teammates told ESPN's Rich Cimini that he would be "shocked" if the quarterback is on the team in 2024.
The Athletic's Dianna Russini also reported Sunday that the Jets informed Wilson they intended to trade him this offseason when he was benched, which "is part of the reason he was reluctant to go back to starting weeks ago."

Wilson started the majority of New York's games in 2023, but he's not expected to do so in 2024 with the return of Aaron Rodgers from a torn Achilles.
While Wilson certainly had his moments filling in for Rodgers, he was ultimately a disappointment and proved that he's not going to be New York's quarterback of the future. In 12 games, he completed 60.1 percent of his passes for 2,271 yards and eight touchdowns against seven interceptions.
The Jets went 4-7 with Wilson under center and finished the season with a 7-10 record.
With Wilson's future the subject of much speculation, Jets head coach Robert Saleh told reporters this week that the team was in the process of evaluating the BYU product and the backup quarterback situation for 2024.
However, Rodgers' comments on the situation certainly made it seem like the 2021 No. 2 overall pick would be playing elsewhere next year.
"I love Zach and I want what's best for Zach, and if he wants to be here and that's what's best for him, then obviously I would love to have that relationship for another year," Rodgers told reporters. "But I want what's best for him and where he wants to be, and sometimes a change of scenery, as I know, can be a breath of fresh air, and it's good to be able to have a new start sometimes."
Given Wilson's struggles since making his debut as a rookie in 2021, it's unclear which teams might be interested in acquiring him this offseason. He's under contract through 2024 with a fifth-year option for 2025.
