Chargers HC Rumors: Bengals OC Brian Callahan Requested for Interview
The Los Angeles Chargers have requested to interview Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan for their open head coaching position, per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
The 39-year-old Callahan has been the Bengals' offensive coordinator since 2019, when he joined then first-year head coach Zac Taylor's staff. He's coached in the NFL since 2010, when he joined the Denver Broncos as a coaching assistant.
Callahan spent six seasons in Denver, capped by winning Super Bowl 50 with the Broncos in 2015 as an offensive assistant. He then left for Detroit to become the Lions' quarterbacks coach for the 2016 and 2017 campaigns.

Callahan then served as the Oakland Raiders' quarterbacks coach in 2018 before heading to Cincinnati.
The Carolina Panthers have also requested to interview Callahan for their head coaching gig as well.
The Chargers are looking to replace Brandon Staley, who was let go after a 5-9 start in his third season.
Per Alex Insdorf of Chargers Wire on Monday, the Bolts had already requested to interview six candidates. Two are offensive coordinators (the Baltimore Ravens' Todd Monken and the Detroit Lions' Ben Johnson), and the four others are defensive coordinators (the San Francisco 49ers' Steve Wilks, the Lions' Aaron Glenn, the Dallas Cowboys' Dan Quinn and the Las Vegas Raiders' Patrick Graham).
That's in addition to the Chargers' reported interest in Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh, per Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report.
L.A. previously announced that it completed interviews with offensive coordinator Kellen Moore and interim head coach Giff Smith.
