Referee Carl Cheffers, who is best known for making the controversial offsides call near the end of the Kansas City Chiefs' loss to the Buffalo Bills this season, was among the officials to find out his assignment for NFL Super Wild Card Weekend.

Cheffers will be working Sunday's game between the Bills and Pittsburgh Steelers:

Cheffers is no stranger to the spotlight, as he was the head referee of Super Bowl LVII between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles. Per NBC Sports Philadelphia's Max Molski, he has worked a total of three Super Bowls and 10 playoff games in his career.

Cheffers drew criticism when he called Chiefs wide receiver Kadarius Toney for an offsides penalty that negated what would've been a game-winning touchdown in Week 14 against the Bills. At the time, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said he felt Toney should've been warned about not lining up properly. However, the veteran official didn't back down from making the controversial call.

"Yes, ultimately, if they looked for alignment advice, certainly we are going to give it to them," Cheffers said. "But ultimately, they are responsible for wherever they line up. And, certainly, no warning is required, especially if they are lined up so far offsides where they're actually blocking our view of the ball. So, we would give them some sort of a warning if it was anywhere close, but this particular one is beyond a warning."

The win against Kansas City kicked off a five-game win streak for Buffalo to close out the regular season, so the team will look to keep the momentum going on Sunday against the Steelers.
