Report: Seth McLaughlin to Visit Ohio State After Leaving Alabama for Transfer Portal
Center Seth McLaughlin, who is set to transfer from Alabama, will reportedly visit Ohio State over the weekend.
Peter Nakos of On3 reported McLaughlin could arrive as early as Thursday. McLaughlin started all 14 games for Alabama this season but struggled in the Crimson Tide's playoff loss to Michigan on New Year's Day.
Ohio State has been looking to revamp its offensive line after issues plagued the unit throughout the 2023 season. The struggles of the offense have ratcheted up pressure on coach Ryan Day, who could find himself on the hot seat if Ohio State fails to compete for a national title in 2024.
McLaughlin originally signed with Alabama as a 3-star prospect in the Class of 2020. He appeared in 36 games and made 25 starts across three seasons with the Tide, who saw nine players enter the transfer portal this week.
McLaughlin will have up to two years of eligibility remaining wherever he ultimately lands.
Ohio State currently has 19 exiting via the portal but does not have any incoming players.
Nick Kelly of the Tuscaloosa News reported McLaughlin will also visit Ole Miss later this month. The Rebels have one of the most robust transfer classes in the nation, with 12 players set to play for Lane Kiffin.
