Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Here is what Baltimore's offensive skill players depth chart will look like heading into the playoffs:
- QB: Lamar Jackson
- RB: Gus Edwards, Justice Hill, Dalvin Cook
- FB: Patrick Ricard
- WR: Zay Flowers, Odell Beckham Jr., Rashod Bateman
- TE: Isaiah Likely
Cook's departure from the Jets was a mutual decision to allow him to join a playoff team, according to ESPN's Rich Cimini. The veteran running back restructured his contract to forfeit the remaining guarantees. He had signed a one-year deal worth $7 million with $5.8 million guaranteed, and Cimini noted that he was paid $6.7 million for his brief tenure in New York.
The Jets didn't get a good return on their investment. In 15 games, Cook recorded 67 carries for 214 yards and 15 catches for 78 yards while failing to score a touchdown. His average of 3.2 yards per carry was the worst of his career and 1.4 yards below his career average. He didn't play a snap in New York's Week 17 game against the Cleveland Browns despite being healthy and in uniform.
The 28-year-old said he chose to sign with the Jets over the offseason for the opportunity to play alongside star quarterback Aaron Rodgers, but he never got the chance after Rodgers' season-ending Achilles injury four plays into the year.
Cook was also expected to shoulder most of the workload while Breece Hall worked his way back from ACL surgery, but Hall's accelerated recovery affected his usage. After registering 13 carries in Week 1, he never reached double digits again.
Cook is fully healthy and should have fresh legs after seeing minimal playing time in New York, so the Ravens potentially added a game-changer to their backfield. The four-time Pro Bowler will add depth in the rushing attack led by star quarterback Lamar Jackson and running back Gus Edwards as Baltimore chases a Super Bowl ring.
