High School Football Under Armour Game 2012: TV Schedule, Live Stream and Spread
Thursday night, loads of high school football stars will go head-to-head in the 2012 Under Armour All-American game.
Elite recruits get a chance to showcase their skills in the national spotlight, and some will even announce their school of choice once the game is over.
Of course, in this day and age of college football, no recruit is truly going where he says he is until he signs a national letter of intent.
National Signing Day isn't too far away, and when all these five- and four-star recruits get together, those that have already given a verbal commit to a school will be making strong efforts to sell their school to those undeclared.
That is, if they're smart.
With that said, let's get to some specifics of the 2012 Under Armour All-American game.
When: Thursday, Jan. 5 at 7:30 p.m. ET
Where: Tropicana Field, St. Petersburg, FL
Watch: ESPN
Live Stream: ESPN3.com
Betting Line: No line available, according to sports.bovada.lv
Roster
The complete roster for both the White (Blur) and the Black (Highlight) teams can be found here, via ESPN.
The best part of the roster list is that these players will be coached by Herm Edwards (Highlight) and Steve Mariucci (Blur).
Getting the chance to learn from former NFL head coaches is a splendid idea. Not only should these two guys be teaching them important football skills, but also life lessons.
The hardest thing for these star recruits will be adjusting to the college life and trying to stay out of trouble. Too often do we see in the news that a college football player got arrested or did something to damage the image of the program.
Having Edwards and Mariucci coach them up will only make them better players and men.
Elite Undeclared Players
Eddie Goldman, DT
According to ESPN, some of his top choices are Alabama, Auburn, Cal, Florida State and Miami.
Goldman has visited all of those schools except for Cal, and he isn't sharing too much as to where he'll play next fall.
Listed at 6'4", 310 pounds, Goldman is the No. 1 defensive tackle in the class of 2012, and the team that lands him will certainly be jumping for joy, because their defensive front will be superb for the next three or four years.
Nelson Agholor, ATH
At the college level, Agholor translates to a wide receiver/running back hybrid, but he can also play at safety. Listed at 6'2", 180 pounds, he'll need to put on some weight to withstand the big college hits he'll soon be taking.
His blazing speed makes him dangerous in the return game, which is primarily where he'd make an impact as a freshman.
Ranked as the No. 12 overall recruit by Rivals.com, his top schools are Florida, Florida State, Notre Dame, USC and Oklahoma.
Landon Collins, S
Viewed as the the top safety by ESPN, and No. 2 by Scout and Rivals, Collins is expected to announce where he will play after this game.
It's down to LSU and Alabama, and since he grew up 30 minutes away from Baton Rouge, many believe he'll pick the Tigers.
It is surprising he's making his choice before the BCS title game, but the outcome of it could still change his mind. After all, he still has just under a month to truly make a final decision.
Cyrus Jones, ATH
According to Dave Hooker of ESPN, Jones will make his decision after this game. Apparently, his family and close friends have all known for a while now but have done an excellent job keeping his secret.
Jones wants to have the spotlight of announcing at the game, but he could've easily made his choice weeks ago. I'm sure ESPNU would've given him TV exposure to make his decision.
At the college level, Jones will either play wide receiver or cornerback. It all depends on which school he chooses and where they envision him becoming a star player.
His top choices are Alabaman and Virginia Tech, and in his report, Hooker stated, "It's hard not to think Alabama might be the quiet leader."
Players to Watch For
While those listed above are certainly worth watching, some other big-time playmakers will steal the show, and you need to keep an eye on them.
Here's just a few to watch closely in the 2012 Under Armour All-American game.
Keith Marshall, RB
Playing for team Blur, Marshall will quickly showcase why he's the No. 1 running back in the country.
His quickness and ability to see the field and make defenders miss will be on full display, as he's likely to burst open the big play.
Marshall enrolled early for the Georgia Bulldogs, and he will be a name you hear often on Saturday's next fall.
Jameis Winston, QB
The Florida State commit will share time at QB for team Blur, but he'll be the one everybody remembers the most.
His dual-threat skills are outstanding, and he'll more than likely make a huge play with his legs. Having only worked with the receivers for a short time, the chemistry isn't all there, meaning once he sees space, Winston will take off.
He does have a solid arm, so look out for the deep ball as well. Even if he doesn't connect, pay attention to how it looks. A strong spiral is what you should see.
Noah Spence, DE
One of the best defensive ends in the country, Spence is headed to play for the Ohio State Buckeyes. He'll be an impact player right from the start, and it will all begin in this game.
Spence thrives on getting after the quarterback, and since he's on team Highlight, it will be fun to watch him attempt to bring down Winston.
Of course, it's uncertain if both will be on the field at the same time, but the chances of them being on the field early in the game are strong because they're both five-star studs.
Deion Sanders Jr., ATH
Yes, that's right, Primetime's son will be in this game. He has skills to play QB, WR or DB, so be on the lookout to where he ends up.
He's only 5'7", but his speed should be what catches your eye. According to Rivals.com, Houston is the only team to offer him a scholarship.
A strong showing in the Under Armour game could definitely result in some better offers.
