With the firing of St. Louis Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo, many want him to return to the Eagles and take over as the defensive coordinator.
Lurie also assured that Eagles general manager Howie Roseman will definitely remain in that position moving forward.
In addition Eagles team president Joe Banner will also return next season.
Lurie assured he is not content or happy at all with the way the season finished:
"This was the most disappointing season in years," Lurie said.
Although Lurie noted the Eagles finished the season well, he alluded to the fact they played well against non-contending teams.
"We proved we could dominate against the teams that were not competitive," Lurie added.
Reid has been Lurie's guy for 13 seasons, and the two have developed a unique relationship, but one thing Lurie said is Reid knows what it takes to win:
"Andy Reid has the fire in his belly to be the best."
The chairman said he was not happy with the Eagles' dismal play in the fourth quarter and more consistent play needs to occur. He also said the Eagles have been in the playoffs more than any other NFC team since 2006, which is a big plus in his mind.
Although the Eagles' ultimate goal is winning the Super Bowl, Lurie noted they have to make the playoffs first and foremost, saying "You've gotta be in the tournament to win the Super Bowl."
After the press conference, Lurie was asked about DeSean Jackson's future, and he said as long as things work out financially, Jackson will be an Eagle next season.
Where do the Eagles go from here? Eagles fans and Jeffrey Lurie are hoping up. One thing can be sure, Andy Reid will be the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2012 season.
